Mail extends State of Emergency till March, 2017

According to Counter Terrorism Expert Martin Ewi, Mail has again extended its state of emergency till march 2017, as fighting continues in the country with the latest on Saturday between armed groups near Kidal which will give security forces more power to intervene in security situations.

The extension voted for by the National Assembly is the latest of many since the November, 2015 attacks on the Radisson Blu Hotel in Bamako, killing 20 people including two attackers.

The previous state of emergency was installed by July for 10 days after the attack on an army camp, also killing 17 soldiers with 35 others injured.
