CANADA’S NEW $10 BILL FEATURING VIOLA DESMOND




Viola Desmond, as a 32-year-old, was a Canadian Black Nova Scotian business woman was thrown into jail who challenged racial segregation at a Roseland Theatre  cinema in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, in 1946.

This dollar will be in circulation towards the end of the year.


She was Born on 6 July 1914, Halifax Regional Municipality, Canada to James Albert Davis, Gwendolin Irene Davis. Her education was at Bloomfield High School.  She was married to Jack Desmond. She later died on 7 February 1965, New York City, New York, United States.
