WHY BUHARI DELAYS TO DECLARE INTENTION

Despite the plethora of calls from loyalists of President Buhari to declare for 2019 election, the presidency has declared that President Buhari’s silence on making his intention known was to prevent the opponent from sabotaging the country.

President Buhari’s special adviser on Media and Publicity Chief Femi Adesina in an interview with news media in Abuja, weekend said the President could not speak about his ambition now since the election is in 2019 and was still a year away because of the consequences that could follow if he declared his intention.

 

“You know the peculiarity of Nigeria particularly now, if the president speaks too early, it’s a problem . There is a lot of sabotage in the country. So when you know that, why then do you speak early? It makes a lot of sense for you to keep  things close to your chest till it is time for you to then say ok, I’m running  which by then can do less damage."
