WOMAN ARRESTED IN LAGOS FOR SEIZING TWIN BABIES FROM THEIR MOTHER

According to a police source, Mrs. Dassi took away the three months babies to her house and thereby deprived them of motherly care. However what led to the seizure was not revealed by the police.

Residents around the area that the suspect and the victims reside however speculated that something must have transpired between the duo before she could have the audacity to seize her babies.

However further investigation by this reporter indicates that residents in the area know them well.  A particular man who chose to be unnamed said:

“The two of them are well known in this area. But we can not say specifically why the other woman would come and take babies that do not belong to her. Even if the mother of the babies is owing her, that did not give her the right to kidnap the babies”.

Some other residents who claimed to know what happened said that it might be as a result of a failed agreement between them.

However, Mrs. Dassi was arrested and charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

She however pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat granted Mrs. Dassi bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum. The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuehi did not object to her bail.She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 17 May, 2018
